Maynilad's response to our queries

Here’s the response of Maynilad President Rogelio Singson to our queries.
“As far as the extension is concerned, we still have to get final RP government approval through the Department of Finance.
“With respect to private subdivisions, the existing policies of MWSS will still govern the concessionaires.  When we say we are ready to include and assist private subdivisions, what we are doing in BF will continue.  We still cannot subsidize private subdivisions under existing policies of MWSS and under HLURB/PD-1345. All we can offer is exactly what we have done to BF residents, assist in providing financing. As we have committed, we are now aggressively laying out main distribution pipes to service the whole BF Paranaque.  We hope to be able to also do the same for BF Las Piñas under the same arrangement with the homeowners associations.  This is the best assistance Maynilad can provide at this time.  Thanks for your support.  Should you need further information, you may contact me or Reggie Cruz for further discussion.”

I am optimistic about the 15-year extension applied for by Maynilad. The process is ongoing and we should pray for the best. Mr. Singson, in an open hearing of the House Committee on Housing & Urban Development, gave the assurance that barring any judicial impediment, they can complete the water connection system in BF Homes by the end of December 2009. The way they have been operating since their work resumed on August 27, the day after the congressional hearing, I am likewise optimistic that Maynilad will make good their promise.

On BFHI reneging on their obligations as a developer and in their attempt to obstruct the Maynilad water system, damage has been inflicted on BF Homes residents. I have asked some lawyers of note and they say that we can have recourse by way of a civil suit. We can seek to recover some if not all of the financial and economic damages we suffered as a result of BFHI's action or inaction. That should be agenda item # 2 after normal water supply is restored in BF Homes Paranaque.

“Assist in the financing”? Good grief! After paying pay for and “donating” the system?

The “shuffle” reminds me of a story where a person told another the time by borrowing the other’s clock and charging him for the services!
